It's Not Enough!

It's not enough to love it if you don't hate the reverse of it ...

I'm not talking about the people for we are all ever changing
I'm talking about values, their worth is never degressing
You can't claim to love honesty and not want know the truth
You can't claim to love integrity and be one to let loose
You can't claim to love consideration when you're selfish in your relations
You can't claim to love modesty when your actions are in arrogance

It's not enough to hate if you don't love the reverse of it ...

I'm not talking about the people for we are all ever changing
I'm talking about honor, it's value established at our hardest hour
You can't claim to hate slander when you choose to do it in your anger
You can't claim to hate showing off when you choose to do it when people scoff
You can't claim to hate anger when you choose release for a false sense of power
You can't claim to hate a liar when you use it to justify actions or avoid your self inflicted fire(s)

It's the hypocrisy within us all; that constantly needs to be checked. We aren't void of error but our wrongs aren't justified by blaming one another. It's upon us to dig within us, and go deeper. Correct our wrongs and not allow lessons in life to break us but make us stronger! Insha'Allah

Everything in life has a lesson ...

Don't allow another to justify their disrespect towards you by acting in a similar manner or worse. Rise above and teach the ignorant through kindness. Or turn away and ignore the arrogant with dignity.

We were raised with the ideal even if we came from a home which wasn't that. Hard lessons teach us to keep it real, even though society is still chasing after that. I've learned to understand that even if I bought the whole world I cannot make the wrongs inflicted upon the wronged right. I cannot fix the mistakes that leave others in a difficult place, because I am not the one in control. At one point I thought I could at least try to make it better, attempt for the "next best thing" but this I also realized isn't in firm standing. Just as you cannot make a wolf eat a flower instead of the little rabbit shivering beneath it's power, you cannot make the blind see his reflection or the deaf hear his voice.....it's not in my control. For some reason I was born with this fire to make right what seems wrong, this yearning desire that if I try, if I really really try it'll be alright. But ...it's not in my control. What might appear good may not be and so really I don't own true reality, I just submit knowing the All Knowing is taking care of me. My duty is where I land, if I'm pardoned early for death to take my hand, I welcome that stand provided HE is Pleased with me. At one point I wasn't sure if I'd like to go Home, leaving behind those that I thought I own. Though I carried them for 9 months and a scar remains forever upon me they remain a duty. And so when I'm called back to the Almighty, I know they'll be safe, and He'll appoint for them a better place even if it isn't the ideal. And it'd be a lie if I said that I'd cry from my depth if they parted from me to a blissful eternity because that's a dream come true. That's the objective to have my babies for eternity, peacefully, so what's the true reality of the love of a mother? And if God willed for them to die later, I pray it's only to increase them in honor. The ideal of being the sole source of joy or affection to one man, is not even up for discussion. The concept is beyond me now, I don't even see how that can be ideal even in fiction it remains a contradiction. But I remain with the reality of my duty, so yes a single mother I'll always be. There's no making that "right" or fixing the wrong, it's just strength God will send down (Insha'Allah). Though I have a lot to learn in this vast world, the touch of knowledge that has caressed me is one that I hold on to firmly. I've held enough doors open to know a woman is her own Queen. I've let go of enough friendships to know that by attaching yourself you'll only suffer the glitch. I've thrown enough fits and spoken enough words to know that I don't control the heart of any being. I've walked enough roads to know what you're told isn't worth a gram of gold. I've looked in enough eyes of a child to realize that I have three that's my primary responsiblity and that I will not let any human dare take that from me; regardless of where they stand in position to me. I remain answerable to ONE, duty bound to some but never at the expense of what God has left within my hands, within my control. There will come a time I must let go, the results unknown....not in my control. So I trek through life.....duty bound and no more. That's the objective, the goal, the path, my role, and if I'm graced with the opportunity to be a wife that's the stance I take. Until I get HOME, where the "ideal" is mine, I'm gonna keep it real, and know in the end Insha'Allah with His Guidance, I'll be fine!

The epitome of love, for either oneself or others is to sincerely be concerned for your or their hereafter; even to the extent of scarificing oneself in attempts to acheive the best of it.

What's happening to the world that we're livin'
Open prostitution and ain't nobody blinkin'
Worse than a whore
Now it's about keepin' score
I cannot imagine the Creator being Pleased with His Creation
Challenging His every command in the name of 'liberation'
All it is now is just "religion"
When you're "ready" then go be a pigeon
What happened to submission?
How did this all turn upside down, making obedience an option
What was sent as a purification, a guidance for creation
Is no longer viewed as its perfection
Good made to be evil, and evil made to be good
It's like the Dajjal is already upon us, deceiving us, making us a fool
And it's all good 'cause society makes us feel "cool"
It's a deceptive reality
What is, isn't actuality
We're just getting worse
Days are numbered, we're living the last years ...
... I ain't got the words
Let's just open the Quran and contemplate a verse

May Allah bestow is infinite Mercy upon us, may He Forgive us ALL, strengthen us , guide us, protect us, show us the straight way, the way on which He has bestowed His Grace not of whose portion is wrath...... AMEEN.. AMEEN.. AMEEN YA RABI!!

O ' Enemy of Mine

I write to you O'enemy
For I don't want you to have any part of me
So I begin, O'Shaytaan
What have you done now that you spend eternity trying to inflict harm?
Was it too much, you had to give in to your ego?
Was it worth it spending your life's work tryin' to be your own hero?
Really though, look at how you chose to go
Been gifted by He, Graced in a land of eternity
But it wasn't enough, you've given up your serenity
Aimin' in trying to breed animosity
Spreading evil through a society by making good seem an atrocity
And I ask myself, what's become of us?
Entwined within our hearts is jealousy and nafs
"Want for your brother what you want for yourself"
Successful is he saved from his own greed, his own needs
Shaytaan missed this one and its results are thus
Empty in the soul for it's sold to hold the world's gold
Knowing full well though, there isn't anything in comparison to what's been told
The Paradise an unimaginable site, yah I'd hate to miss out on that too
So I get why you do what you feel gotta do
If you gonna be a hate'a you're doing a fine job of it
Spinning whispers of anger, the attention hungry, stolen wealthy; desires plenty
Limitations are upon the believers for this life isn't what's to grieve over
What you're offering Shaytaan, ain't seem much when you actually review the cover
It's like a pretty picture, and nothing else when you turn it over
An image embedded in the mind, a lottery card telling you what you'll win
And if you give in?
You'll keep turning it over 'n over again
To find the same thing, looking, to find nothing, forgetting ...
Tricked into the devils lesson
Class 101, take away the ability to think
By this Shaytaan, you guarantee your win to sink
To the pit of the hell
For the lesson is in the devil's wail........it comes in truth ...
Words of the Almighty, plant our roots -"Woe to he to recites but does not contemplate"
Make it your goal, make it your fate.
O' enemy of mine, you can't touch me for Power belongs entirely to the Almighty
Your mirage is a broken glass
For it's truth remains and falsehood will never last!

Seize It!

Each and every day passes us
End'a time; it's going fast enough
Everyday brings a lesson
The mind needs to question
And so I ask, what am I to learn?
Days are gone, what do I truly yearn?
I find myself in a mix of up and down
Forcing myself to 'hold it down'
And I don't mean I'm trying to clown
But I want it to be a productive life
Not to end in strife
But a 'want' isn't enough to call it an action
Sometimes it's a desire that only holds the conscience's attraction
No more than stalling the mind . . .

Everyday has a lesson
We need to constantly question
Life's works has reason
Seize it to Please Him

It's the nemesis of our own arm
Inflicting our own harm
World in chaos , suffering it's own loss
Self destructing
Past is reconstructing
Overview of the Thamud and 'Aad
Overview of the Firaun and Nuh's Ark
Depths of destruction, flooded and shook
The people mistook
Their arrogance lead to depths of negligence
Their defiance lead them to their own death sentence
Put out with the lightening and thunder; Who Controls It? .. Don't you wonder?
Put out by an explosive nature, who Who Owns it?.. The Creator!
Rebelliousness was their nature
The past is suppose to be lessons for the future
But the future chose to get stupider
Ignorancee vast in an ocean of accessible knowledge
What excuse is left that is worthy to be acknowledged?
Dumb chose dumber
Weak chose weaker
Strength chose arrogance
And we remain pleading ignorance
Does it even make any sense?
It's the nemesis of our own arm
Inflicting our own harm
So when you see it strike, know you chose your plight
You picked this fight
And ALL Success belongs to HE
Who Controls every entity
Ya Raabi, Protect us from Your Wrath
For Your Punishment is indeed extreme and harsh!

"Look whats going on in the world...tragic ends and calamities"
Soliders fighting for fun, enjoying killin' made-up enemies
Wars waged and no end in sight
Fighting for land, death their only plight
Crime increasing, greedy for living
Purposeless opinions, designed to divide unions
Cries of stress are now screaming
Hunger a crisis, the world stopped seeing
Blood shed a reality, stories now aren't even moving
Too much turmoil , the world's still snoozing
Caught up in their "lives" , tryin' make it before one dies
Caught up in the 'lies', strivin' thinking it's all right
Caught up in the fight, narcissist thinkin' he's in the right
Weakness of man getting weaker
Corruption penetrating a veins, getting deeper
Isolating the mind, the disease is stronger
Controlled to see one way, the soul assigned to an evil keeper
Distracted by the media
Drowning out the truth, just you and wikipedia
Blinded by the strayed view,so you stay confused
Relish in your group, their views you root
Blankin' out the ability to contemplate, it's easier to just hate
Why over think it, there's enough out there, just tryin' to 'make it'
System malfunticon , corruption detected
Overload of dung, the stench permeates masses being selected
No one saved from the clutch of society
Unless they hold on tight to piety
Sincerely within their ability
Mindful of the Almighty
Seeing the reality
Bitin' down, fighting against immorality
Values and views not compatibile with society
Understanding who rules, entering the rightous hierarchy
Truth your tools, you're strivin' for eternity
Lose the fools
And you've earned your victory

She Shall Maintain

Often times it's struggle when you're on your own
Maybe you've got some family but they can't make the home
You are the mother and father to your children
Often people don't understand the situation
They take it to a cause instead of following the root
They're trying to determine the reason, instead of focusing on the fruit
But that's the nature of man
They can't understand unless they too have been dealt with the same hand
So you remain, emotionally isolated though you're fighting to maintain
Trying to hold on to your dreams for you and your family, even though your situation is no longer the same
It can be an upward battle
Grouped together like a herd of cattle
So you ask yourself, what path must I take?
Successful is she who makes moves for Allah's sake
Your eyes may be wet in silent tears
But it's The All Hearing, The All Knowing that cures your fears
You can never make another man's wrongs right
You can only purify, perfect and rise beyond the eternal fight
Forgive to be Forgiven by He
Strive purposefully with your objective only on eternity
What appears to be
Isn't actually reality
Light in your life and heart only comes by following One Command
Don't be disillusioned to think it's rising to the social demand
I stand with you and direct your hands
Face them upwards towards He Who Controls All, He who Commands
Even if you stand alone, know Allah is Aware, He upon His Mighty Throne!

Altered Mentality

Don't blame us for our social education
We didn't choose to hear it
We struggle with our roles, it ain't all hormonal
The job of a man, the mind of a woman
How do you expect two to flow in a smooth union?
He let's his duty slide upon her
But he doesn't understand she's got her own work
If he says " well then I'm going to have contribute to her role too"
Make it even, so we work as two
Sufficient as it can be in today's society
But the mind has now altered its natural disposition
No matter how you cut it up, you've divided the situation
It isn't to blame, the he or the she
This is how the times are now, where we've come socially
I wonder if the true existence of our being remains intact fully
Some how I think we've lost a part of humanity
The greed of society decided logic makes more sense
"Team work", both working towards dollars and cents
And so he's forced to see more than he can handle
And she forced to be more than she can handle
Then they come back home and wonder why they struggle
Wonder why they can't seem to see eye to eye
Can't seem to make the necessary sacrifice
Each experiencing a separate life, devil in the mix to separate man and wife
It's social epidemic
The base of our creation no longer systematic
Everybody just trying to "make it"
Question is, where are you tryin' to make it to?
I know the social pressure making us doubt ourselves especially if the hereafter is our endeavour
The stranger remains firm, to be seen no more than the stranger
But give glad tidings, for your life doesn't begin now
Thrills and frills of life- this can't be how!
They call it the "New WORLD Order"
A one mind design, where sacrifice means loving yourself harder
Where love means you need to fight for yourself stronger
Where struggle means you need to live it up larger
Where success means you ain't got'ta barter .. ...
.......Though it all boils down to one question
What's the purpose of our Creation??

It's amazing the degree of arrogance in man
To think that he's more Compassionate than Ar Rahman!!!
To determine what is permitted is merely a boundry in Islam
And that the condition of a person with Shaytaan running through their veins are suffering harm
The harm of such condition is not from Islam
No the harm of such condition is the weakness of Iman
And so, you forbid the words of Allah Himself?!
Within the limits of Islam, you fear the harm of the words of the All Knowing to His Creation?
You restrict the Sunnah to a time frame of when Islam had only just become
You neglect the caliphas because your nafs thinks it's insane
The created thinking he has more wisdom than the Creator?!
As if the All Knowing doesn't understand both women and men's nature
Just because you can't comprehend
Doesn't give you the right to limit men
Verses clear
Yet picking and choosing that which keeps you feel secure
How do you make you own deductions based on a limited scope? Just assumptions!
Success alone is with Allah!!
Sakinah only comes from following the words of HIM, along with the authentic Sunnah
The deaf, dumb and blind
Walking around as though they have unseen knowledge of this time
Allah orders in His book, 'wherein you differ refer back to Quran and Sunnah'
But that's considered a black and white mentality
That's considered not using wisdom, because you seem to think you've got a clear reality
Now how can that be if your test isn't the same as me?
Have you walked in the footsteps of a wife knowing the feeling of a woman?
Have you marched forth after being abused by others nafs because what Islam allowed they themselves made forbidden?
For fear of society
Have you felt the pain of a broken family due to major sin, when there's an option which makes it a win-win?
You put the opinons of man above the Almighty
Justify your stance with a righteous assumption of yourself
People can't play it out in their head
Therefore your ability to have tawaqil is dead
You're suppose to rule according to our God Given tools
It's not based on suspicion of how one might be trying to misuse
Within wisdom and perfection this religion was established
The permissibility stated and the conditions applied to it
Yet without knowledge words are spoken
Arrogance among the tongue of someone unjust unable to see his own condition
Unable to realize his words are poison for they're against what ALLAH Has chosen
But I am reminded that I am only accountable for myself
So I must maintain my dignity and uphold my duty
Though I dismiss this mentality, even if you label me as a "salafi"

What's the beauty of Khadijah...

She had the past with her to make her stronger... to make her wiser
She understood the needs of her man, that made him long her
She supported him in truth, she upheld her honor
Her children a reflection of her
Strength in their core
She was the communities envy
Sought after by many
But she rejected their approach
For she knew the worth of a man didn't come with his notes
Widowed, and divorced ; shaped by life's course
Gave it all up, for what she knew was truth
Held it down for she knew it's worth
Wisdom was her legacy
What's the beauty of Khadijah ...
Successful and beautiful yet she yearned only for the truthful
Experience in her dealings gave her the eye to clearly see things
Peace be upon her, greetings sent directly from the Angel Gibraeel
Her worth, a reflection of her sincere work
Her support, her love, her dedication makes her a lesson in our relations
She moved gracefully, like a Queen
Held it down faithfully, like a soldja
Nurtured her bounties, the best mother
Supported her husband, a loyal worker, the sweetest cover
Gave them comfort, like a cushion, the greatest luxury on earth
She didn't complain, she worked like team, together they maintained
She was a 'woman' in every sense of the word
She knew her duty, she knew the worth of her role
She understood that her position was crucial
She knew the of title of mother and wife is lethal
Making her a woman not forgotten to this day
Making others jealous of her even though she passed away
Making her a wife in who's husband heart she always stayed; honoring her even when in peace she lay
Making her a mother, with firmly rooted seeds, who's progeny reached perfection; a leader in eternity
She understood her role
She understood her worth
What's the beauty of Khadijah you say..
She was one of few females to reach perfection through the tawakil she displayed
An example of true dedication, her story relayed ..

In pursuit of happiness...

As I watch the world I see a trend, often it's not about trying to blend as some may see it. It seems to be a little more complex, a lil more believing. It's the " I " wondering how they can survive and what makes them more alive, looking for a path, a drive, but often just chasing an empty space within the walls of the world. It's not so much a rat race, it's more like an empty face, broken pace, a sorry waste ......... of time! And though yes this seems like nothing more than a rhyme it's actually meant to cause you to open at least one eye. It's almost as though as humanity we're sleep walking into what goes beyond vanity. It's what they call a "pursuit of happiness" , what exactly is this? This quest the entire world is obsessed with, not realizing at its best within you, it's passing this test.........this test called life. Fools may sing this is 'THE life', this is it! But hold on a minute, just think a bit. Would you consider this a cause to be created, to enjoy a life of everyone being hated, or evil needing to be abated. Surely this ain't it .. let it sit. Because if you seize to ask questions you'll remain a lost lesson. Rolling in the material you'll be void of the real, resulting in the loss of the very thing you desire most. Success at its best, at its finest, is happiness. Why fight it, when you can't honestly deny it.........find it, it's there, closer to you then you dare. Not too far off, just move a lil over, forgo the four leaf clover and turn a new leaf over. I told ya..........it's within you, if you want it ......... question is ....... do you?

A Peace That Sings

My soul breathes a breath it has never quite taken before
So crisp, so clean, so pure
And a giddy little grin will peak upon my lips
For no particular reason, just a peace within sings so deep
And though the meaning of life’s lesson is upon me now
I can’t help but feel that I know nothing of anything, but to God I remain, to God I bow
Time and time again we search, we befriend but in the end there are things that remain questionable
Should a friend really be so textable?
Really, is there nothing else to do other than keep us entertained
Twitter,or Facebook, Blackberry or Iphone, Google and Amazon E books
It’s all the same really, friends too many
One or two may know me
But never have they given me this feeling I feel
This ease, this lightness upon my chest, this gushing goodness of “man, God is Indeed The Best!”
Why? some may ask. Wasn’t that a test?
Yes, but a test is only a question mark away from a reward
Will you submit to that which you cannot control? Or will your choice be hard, and dramatic turmoil?
I resolve with, I need not fight if I have the angels fighting for me
I will not wander blindly when I have light making a way clearly
I will not speak ill of what’s meant to be, when I have the All Knowing watching over me
I will not be among the ungrateful, before I become alone just me and me
My life is a breath of fresh air for which I pray lasts until I return home
Though fears I have, it’s not something any human can console
For words don’t come when I try to speak it, just thoughts and only God Knows the Meanings
So I stop here.
Praising the All Knowing, The All Wise
Hoping for the best, fearing my weaknesses and begging for success!

O Believing Men - A reminder

Upon reading the article - Homely Homemaking Homebodies? Why the Quran Commands Muslim Women: "Stay in Your Homes" by Sadaf Farooqi,  I noticed there were many comments. Though I did not go through them, I did read a few which lead me to write this article that I have entitled:

O Believing Men - A reminder
“And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.” [Quran: 51: 55]

Autho billahi min ash shaytaan al rajeem Bismillah Al Rahman Al Raheem!

So I begin with this, the most powerful reminder :

You shall see them, as they are brought face to face with the chastisement, in a state of abject humiliation, looking with a furtive glance. But the believers will say: “Surely the true losers are they who lose themselves and their kindred on the Day of Resurrection.” Lo, the wrong-doers will be in an enduring torment. [Ash-Shura 42:25]

Gender roles is an issue that seems to be in chaos, what was deemed as "natural" in the past is now considered nothing but "traditional oppression". It seems gender roles has drastically changed throughout the ages with the commencement of the 'Women's Liberation Movement'. Dating back to the early 18th century came the first glimpse of the feminist movement spurred by middle or upper-class white women in search of political equality. The climax of the feminist mentality saturated itself in the 1980's-1990's; this reform campaign altered all forms of social standards -religious, familial, political, professional etc.

"And enjoin on one another goodness towards women; verily they are married to you: you have no power over them at all unless they come in for a flagrantly filthy action; but if they are devoted to you, then seek no way against them. And verily, you have rights over your women, and they have rights over you." [Tirmidhi ]

As a result of an attempt for progression we found ourselves in the other extreme; regression! It is clear to many the instinctive nature women have; rearing children, their home, their family life. A task that in today's world is immensely underrated, deemed almost as "unaccomplished" if it is ones sole livelihood. However, in the rage of change and a distinct need for human rights initiated by women we are left questioning, what has happened to the men? What are their roles and who have they become?

Islam outlines our gender roles in astounding perfection. It encompasses our nature as males and females; acknowledging our God Given strengths and weaknesses.

“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allaah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allaah and to their husbands), and guard in the husband’s absence what Allaah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity and their husband’s property). As to those women on whose part you see ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next) refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allaah is Ever Most High, Most Great” [al-Nisa’ 4:34]

We as men and women have been placed on this earth for the same purpose (to worship One God and associate no partners to Him), but with entirely different roles. Lets break this down from a visual that we are familiar with in the modern world. Allah subhanhu wa tala has given the man the sole responsibility to provide for his family food, clothes and shelter. Man is given the responsibility to see that his family receives secular and Islamic education. He is given the responsibility of leading his family towards Jannah. He is given the responsibility of protecting his wife, his children, his sisters, his parents; kith and kin. He is given the responsibility if the need arises to physically denfend Islam for the sake of Allah subhanhu wa tala or in our current state to accomplish this mentally and/or verbally. He is given the responsibility to socially serve Al-Islam (ie. Daw'ah, helping the needy, neighbours etc.). Women have the responsibility of obeying her husband, guarding their property, teaching his children, and safe guarding herself (maintaining modesty). Not to say a woman should not help the needy, be good to her neighbours, keep relations between kith and kin etc. but her duty remains mainly within the home. Now compare them! Is it not clearly noticeable through Islamic rights that women carry a lesser burden but equally meaningful? We as a whole Ummah have messed up the system!

A man in Islam has been given the role of the Amir; the leader of his household. Brothers do not under-estimate this responsibility! You have been given the rights in order for you to fulfill great responsibilities! It is upon the man to make sure that he lives up to his responsibility and it is for the woman to ease that burden by complying to that which he requires done and/or needs. You cannot run a school without a Principle, you cannot win a war without a Sergeant, you cannot aim for a 'touch-down' without a game plan that others also have to follow through with ... It is the man's responsibility and right to create that 'game plan' and oversee its execution is correctly conducted. If he does not do that then he too bears the failure along with his players.

A wise man knows that in order to be successful in his duties he should learn to adopt 'mutual consultation' - or 'team work'. A manly man, or a 'man' in all essence of the word is not one that should be able to bench press 350 lbs then expect his wife to haul in all the groceries, go to work, see to the children and that's it for him; 9-5pm is all he is willing to contribute towards his family - towards his Akhira. If that was the case what would be the point in having a man around? This is a mentality contributing to divorce on the rise along with many sisters simply uninterested in marriage wa Allahu Alim. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was reported to have helped in household affairs. If any man stood in the shoes of a woman for a day and completed the tasks that it takes to make a home run smooth, clean and Islamic he would understand the value in aiding her. By helping her, he helps his children and by helping his children he is fulfilling his responsibilities of leading them away from the fire (Insha'Allah), therefore securing himself with His Creator Insha'Allah. Plus it creates love within the home and each other. A home is not a 'one man' show. It is not for the man to call the shots and a woman to be void of her needs and rights. Nor is it for a woman to be "independent" and a man to be purposeless and disrespected. There is a fine, delicate, beautiful balance that Islam sets for us. Yet we have gone way beyond these, as a result the consequences are astounding social ills!

If a woman is not home and she is the second breadwinner, then who is caring for the children? Who is imparting the knowledge that they need to be righteous Muslims? Who is mentoring the children to help them understand the world around them without it sucking them up and stripping them of their souls? If a man is comfortable with his wife working to provide for herself, interacting with other men, neglecting the household affiars, losing his respect in the home then how can he feel sure that he is fulfilling his God given responsibilities? How can both spouses be a comfort for one another when the whispering of Shaytaan has the husband holding the door wide open? In the end of the day the burden will also still lie upon the man because Allah subhanhu wa tala gave Him the duty and the rights to fulfill his task - the ball is in his hands!

“And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable, but men have a degree (of responsibility) over them. And Allaah is All-Mighty, All-Wise” [al-Baqarah 2:228]

It is a heavy burden brothers! Even still, one too many brothers are very comfortable in not taking the responsibility of financially maintaining or sheltering or ensuring the household is heading in the right direction. In fact many men in our 'progressive age' expect their wives to contribute to the household financially, as though it is upon her to do so. Too many brothers are failing in their responsibilities to protect their family from the evils of this world and their destruction in the hereafter, too many are simply not bothered therefore do not demand their rights in order to fulfill their responsibilities. Therefore a man is wronging his family due to his failure in fulfiling their basic Islamic rights (food, shelter, clothes, educating them). And in some cases only when it suits him then he demands his rights from his wife.

"O you who have attained to faith! Ward off from yourselves and your families that fire (of the hereafter) whose fuel is Human beings and stones."[Qur’an 66:6]

Along with the adolescent mentalities plaguing our healthy minded adult Muslim community, the "yes dear" syndrome has infiltrated itself into our homes, into it's own form of extremism. All too many of us forget that Islam is a moderate path, we are neither here nor there but rather in the middle. Do not be a tyrant, yet do not be 'whipped' (agree to everything even when it is wrong). Do not be Scrooge (stingy), yet do not be Santa (comply with everyones wishes - naughty or nice), do not be 'Molly Maid' and also do not be a couch potato, do not make your family all you ever do yet do not ignore them or find excuses to be out of the house constantly. Just walk a middle path and you'll find success, Insha'Allah!

"Fear Allah concerning women! Verily you have taken them on the security of Allah, and intercourse with them has been made lawful unto you by words of Allah. You too have rights over them, and that they should not allow anyone to sit on your bed [i.e., not let them into the house] whom you do not like. But if they do that, you can chastise them but not severely. Their rights upon you are that you should provide them with food and clothing in a fitting manner” (Narrated by Muslim, 1218)

Marriage is half our deen not because it sounds nice for you to say that on your wedding day or feel accomplished that you're now married. It is because it carries a heavy weight, you are now entrusted with another person and Insha'Allah children which you will be questioned about on the Day of Judgement. You are entitled to more rights but now others have rights upon you too. You cannot neglect your home and the rights others have upon you yet feel fulfilled as a dutiful Muslim; it is simply not possible. Our religion is an action based religion; it encompsses honor, dignity, truth, justice, kindness all entwined within our worship. It takes sincerity, courage and as with everything great it also requires sacrifice. Success is not within our own mind, it is within the Orders ordained upon us in the hopes that with sincere intention we have earned our seat in Jannatul Firdos.

May Allah subhanhu wa talaa Protect us from the evils of ourselves, man, jinn, and shaytaan, may He forgive us for our sins and give us strength to fulfill our duties...Ameen

May Allah forgive me if I have said anything wrong for all good is from Him alone and wrong/bad is from myself.

Your sister in Islam,

Shireen

Holy-Days (author unknown)

Christian "Holy-days" are ancient pagan feasts that were ushered in by the Roman Catholic Church during the rule of Emperor Constantine (a lot of them). Constantine was a pagan sun-worshipper who had a "Christian experience" that wanted to unite his empire, both Christian and pagan together. He achieved this by re-writing history and re-naming pagan feasts with Christian names. Most if not all of the rituals and symbols that take place during these days have a paganistic background. This is a very general summary of the origins of each festival:

Sunday Services:

Early Christians kept Saturday as the Sabbath until March 7, 321 CE when Pope Constantine passed a law requiring believers to worship on Sunday, the day the pagans worshipped the sun-god. Christians still kept Saturday as the Sabbath until another law was passed eleven years later. This law signed into decree by Pope Constantine forbid believers to worship on the Sabbath (Saturday) and it was punishable by death by the Catholic Church. Many believers were burned to death by the Catholic Church for keeping the Sabbath.

So many holidays rooted in pagan sun-worship including Father's Day, Mother’s day and Easter, always fall on the Sun-day, the day named in honor of their most powerful god -the Sun! ('A'oodhoobIllaah!)

Birthdays:

Origins lie in the realm of magic and religion. The customs of offering congratulations, presenting gifts and celebrating-complete with lighted candles - in ancient times were meant to protect the birthday celebrant from the demons and to ensure his security for the coming year. Down to the fourth century Christianity rejected the birthday celebration as a pagan custom.

New Year's Day, January 1:

The Roman emperor Julius Caesar officially declared January 1 to be a New Year in 46 B.C. Romans worshiped "god Janus" who had two faces, one looking forward and the other looking backward. The month of January was named after this Roman god and it gave an idea to the emperor to establish January as a gate to the New Year.

April Fool's Day, April 1:

The most commonly accepted theory among historians is that the holiday was first officially introduced with the changing of the pre-Christian calendar of thirteen months to the Gregorian calendar of twelve months. In 1582, Pope Gregory III ordered a new calendar to replace the old Julian calendar. In this new calendar, New Years Day was shifted from April 1, to January 1. Those that continued to celebrate New Years Day on April 1 were referred to as April Fools and were subject to ridicule being taunted by their neighbors.

Ground Hog Day, February 2:

Groundhog day goes back to Imbolc, a pagan festival, celebrated by witches, druids and other pagans as part of the wheel of the year. Imbolc is the special day of Brighid, the Celtic "goddess of fire", and thus is deemed a fire festival, celebrated between the 31st of January to sunset on the 2nd of February.

Its transformative powers of the flame signify change and the setting of new goals. As the Crone of winter gives way to the Maiden of spring, this festival of light cleanses to make way for the new. Nature starts to come back to life, and the new agricultural season begins. Basically it refers to the turning of winter to spring.

It is traditionally a time for new witches and druids to be initiated into the Craft, falling in with its association of change and dedication to new goals.

The name February comes from the Latin februare, which means “to purify.” For the Romans, February was a time of cleansing and purification. They prepared themselves for various activities that were coming in the Spring, making a fresh start.

Valentine's Day, February 14:

The Romans celebrated a holiday on February 14th to honour Juno Fructifier, "Queen of the Roman gods and goddesses" as well as "goddess of marriage".

In 469, emperor Gelasius declared February 14th a holy day in honor of Valentinus instead of the pagan "god Lupercus". This allowed Christianity to take over some of the celebrations of love and fertility which had perviously occurred in the context of paganism.

Family day in Canada & President Day in America, February 15:

On February 15, Romans celebrated Luperaclia, honoring Faunus, "god of fertility". Men would go to a grotto dedicated to Lupercal, the "wolf god", located at the foot of Palatine Hill and where Romans believed that the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, were suckled by a she-wolf. The men would sacrifice a goat, don its skin, and run around, hitting women with small whips, an act which was supposed to ensure fertility.

Easter Sunday, Always Falls on a Sunday Between March 22 and April 25:

Easter or Ishtar, also known by her biblical name Semiramis and later called the "Queen of heaven" was the widow of Nimrod and mother of Tammuz. Easter is the bare breasted pagan "fertility goddess of the east". Legend has it that she came out of heaven in a giant egg, landing in the Euphrates river at sunrise on the first Sunday after the vernal equinox, busted out, and turned a bird into an egg laying rabbit.

To honor this event, pagan sun-worshippers would go out early in the morning and face to the east to watch their "sun-god" arise over the horizon before having a mass (sacrifice) in which the priest of Easter would sacrifice three month old human infants and take the eggs of Easter and die them in the blood of the sacrificed infants. The blood-red colored Easter eggs would later hatch on December 25th, the same day her son Tammuz the reincarnate "sun-god" would be born. Sound familiar? Reincarnate of "sun-god" (son god) born on Dec. 25.

Easter married her son Tammuz who was by legend the reincarnate "sun-god". Tammuz went pig hunting and was gored to death by a wild boar and that is why pagans eat ham on Easter. Because Tammuz was killed when he was forty years old, pagans fast one day for each of the years that he lived leading into Easter. This practice is known as Weeping for Tammuz by pagans but called Lent by Catholics.

Mother's Day, Second Sunday of May:

Mother's Day dates back to ancient cultures in Greece and Rome. In both cultures, "mother goddesses" (Queen of Heaven), were worshipped during the springtime with religious festivals. The ancient Greeks paid tribute to the powerful "goddess Rhea", the wife of Cronus, known as the "Mother of the Gods" (Queen of Heaven). Similarly, evidence of a three-day Roman festival in Mid-March called Hilaria, to honor the Roman "goddess" Magna Mater, or Great Mother, dates back to 250 BCE.

Thanksgiving, 2nd Monday in October (Canada), 4th Thursday in November (United States):

The pagans in Rome celebrated their thanksgiving in early October. The holiday was dedicated to the "goddess of the harvest", Ceres, and the holiday was called Cerelia. The Catholic church took over the pagan holiday and it became well established.

Halloween, October 31:

Halloween is a pagan holiday to honor the dead and evil spirits. They did this by dressing up like the evil spirits and giving offerings to the evil spirits. This is why candy is given out on Halloween, as offerings for the evil spirits. The phrase trick or treat was attributed to this practice because pagans believed the evil spirits would do something bad (trick) to them if they did not leave an offering (treat) for them. ('A'oodhoobIllaah!)

Christmas, December 25:

Every "sun-god" was born on December 25th. Amun-Ra, Horus, Mithra, Tammuz, and Zeus were born on December 25th. If there was one day that the Messiah was not born, it was December 25th. In fact the Bible is quite clear that Messiah was born late September or early October on the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles.

Thinking outloud

From Imam Malik's Muwatta: Book 47, Number 47.1.7:

Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya ibn Said said that he heard Said ibn al-Musayyab say, "Shall I tell you what is better than much prayer and sadaqa?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Mending discord. And beware of hatred - it strips you (of your deen)."

"You do not do evil to those who do evil to you, but you deal with them with forgiveness and kindness." (Sahih Al-Bukhari)
------------------------------

The standard Islam sets for us is a reflection of everything good we can be as people. No wonder the one better in character will be better in religion because they are so closely connected. We as Muslims are very much part of a social religion that forces us to always rise to the occasion. Standard and expectation is high and rightly so. When man feels he is truly functioning at his best, he finds himself in a sense of peace and contentment. If he is not he gets stressed/depressed which either forces him to deal with his conflicts or he/she just gets fat (ie finds a temporary fix to get his/her mind off the core issues, sometimes it's sleep, and worse it's alcohol/drugs/other sinful actions.

May Allah swt Protect us from the evils of ourselves and may He make it so we are able to reach the standard Islam sets..Ameen

**Guy's point of view***

I found this in my 'drafts' box. I find it amusing and enjoyed reading it! So I'm sharing with you all  :) I have no idea who wrote it, but enjoy!
-------
 ***Guy's point of view***

This is very cute! And even written by a guy!

You might agree with it, but when it actually happens 99% of girls don't realize it 'til it is too late and that guy who did it is so frustrated that he has moved on to someone who will take notice. From a guys point of view:

We don't care if you talk to other guys. We don't care if you're friends with other guys.
But when you're sitting next to us, and some random guy walks into the room and you jump up and tackle him without even introducing us, yeah, it pisses us off.
It doesn't help if you sit there and talk to him for ten minutes without even acknowledging the fact that we're still there.
We don't care if a guy calls you, but at 2 in the morning we do get a little concerned.
Nothing is that important at 2 a.m. that it can't wait till he morning.
Also, when we tell you you're pretty/beautiful/gorgeous/cute/ stunning, we freaking mean it
Don't tell us we're wrong. We'll stop trying to convince you
The sexiest thing about a girl is confidence.Yeah, you can quote me.
Don't be mad when we hold the door open.
Take Advantage of the mood im in.
LET US PAY FOR YOU! DON'T 'FEEL BAD' We enjoy doing it.It's expected.
Smile and say 'thank you.'
Kiss us when no one's watching.
If you kiss us when you know somebody's looking, we'll be more impressed.
You don't have to get dressed up for us.
If we're going out with you in the first place, you don't have to feel the need to wear the shortest skirt you have or put on every kind of makeup you own.
We like you for WHO you are and not WHAT you are.
Honestly, I think a girl looks more beautiful when she's just in her pj's or my t-shirt and boxers, not all dolled up.
Don't take everything we say seriously.
Sarcasm is a beautiful thing. See the beauty in it.
Don't get angry easily. Stop using magazines/media as your bible.
Don't talk about how hott Morris Chesnutt, Brad Pitt, or Jesse McCartney is in front of us. It's boring, and we don't care. You have girlfriends for that.
Whatever happened to the word 'handsome'/'beautiful'.
I'd be utterly stunned by a girl who greeted me with 'Hey handsome!' instead of 'Hey baby/ stud/ cutie/ sexy' or whatever else you can think of.On the other hand im not sayin i wouldn't like it ether.

Girls: I cannot stress this enough: IF YOU AREN'T BEING TREATED RIGHT BY A GUY, DON'T WAIT FOR HIM TO CHANGE. DITCH HIS SORRY DISGRACE-TO-THE-MALE-POPULATION ASS, AND FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL TREAT YOU WITH UTTER RESPECT

Someone who will honor your morals.
Someone who will make you smile when you're at your lowest.
Someone who will care for you even when you make mistakes.
Someone who will love you, no matter how bad you make them feel.
Someone who will stop what they're doing just to look you in the eyes....and say 'i love you' ..........AND ACTUALLY MEAN IT!

*****Give the nice guys a chance*****

Holdin Hands-
Girls : If you want to hold his hand, gently bump into it a couple of times.
Guys : Grab it if it happens more than once.

Cuddling-
Girls : When you want to cuddle with him, tell him you're cold.
Guys : Automatically move closer to her.

Movies-
Girls : During a movie, if he puts his arm around you, tilt your head on his shoulder
Guys : Lift her chin up and kiss her.

Loving each other-
Guys : When she tells you she loves you, look deep into her eyes, give her a peck on the lips, and tell her you love her too... And mean it.

Laying below the stars-
Girls : When you're both laying under the stars put your head on his chest and close your eyes as you listen to his steady heart beat
Guys : Whisper in her ear and link your hands with hers. Now make a wish about something you would like to happen Between you and yourcrush .... guys: no grabbing!!!

The Power of Dua'a/Supplication

Some might feel that whenever they pray to God and ask of Him it's as though it's just "a thing to do" and they are really not doing much by it. But really.....and I say this from first hand experience, do not under estimate the power of dua'a, especially sincere supplication. Before I continue my thoughts on the subject I want to share a very beautiful hadith:

"The invocation of anyone of you is granted (by God) if he does not show impatience (by saying, "I invoked God but my request has not been granted.") -Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him]

We as humans are impatient by nature ( me, myself, and I very much included in this). It is only out of arrogance we say "I prayed for blah, blah, blah and it hasn't happened... either God doesn't hear me, or doesn't care". That's like a human emotionally blackmailing someone else, *ahem*.. trying to guilt trip God??

Allah swt is the All Knowing, All Wise, a leaf does not fall without His Knowledge. Having said that, let me share my experience with you.

I asked Allah swt one day out of my own stupidity and youth (with good intentions InshaAllah) for Allah swt to test me because He tests those that He loves. I wanted to be loved by my Creator, being young, I made this dua not understanding that tests can also lead to our destruction if we do not deal patiently. Alhamdulilah, when my test did come I immediately realized that it was an answer to my duaa's (which by then I learned not to make such duaa'). Allahu Alim how I faired on my test, but it passed as does most things in life. Then I supplicated to Allah swt to do something for His Pleasure and made the intention that it was only from Him Alone I embarked on this journey in the hopes of doing good by Him. It took me a while to realize that my intention was something I am being tested on. We cannot say we believe and expect to not be tested. And so the next trial sailed through not as gracefully as the first...and now it is the past Alhamdulilah. I find myself maturing through my own dua and now I ask Allah swt to grant me good in this world and the next, a partner in righteousness  and comfort to earn His Pleasure together, to protect my children and family from the every increasing Fitna of the world, and to not test me in a difficult way as I am weak.Subhan'Allah!!..( and for us all...Ameen)

Allah swt Hears those that turn to Him... He Knows our hearts better than we do. He Knows the hearts of others and their true condition. So me, the normal me that has ants in her pants, afraid life will pass me by without being a productive servant of Allah swt is going to sit still, attempt to be beautifully patient, trust Allah swt from the depths of my soul and supplicate whilst keeping my heart and eyes open for that which Allah swt brings my way.

This is the reason my business is on a stand still.... my everything is just pending until I feel it's the right move. We must make an effort, but there's a fine like between effort and haste!! I'm trying to walk the line 'cause I've fallen one too many times; my hands are bruised but my heart is whole :) ALHAMDULILAH!!:)

Truth stings but lies burn

Flaming through bridges, through pillars meant to keep us firm

For all the truth there is the reality of it

But for all the lies there's only chaos in it

Uncontrolled, unexplained, confusion by the sane

Selfish let it be it's name, for deceit is designed to protect the ego and destroy the mind

A lie runs through veins that had to bear witness to the truth

On fire within the flesh it breeds a greater test

For it's carrier it may fuel until only ash remains

But for others, it's trust that will never be the same

No, this isn't the blame game

It's the sting of the truth that I face whilst stating my claim

Down on me for I got stung twice

Who is he that walks the earth like a dice?

But I do have one protection and pray it remains mine

The beauty of intention makes outcomes always be fine

So I rhyme........I just rhyme as every thought comes to mind

Praise the Lord I still have my faith, thank the Lord for keeping me safe

Hoping for my success in this world's test and my lifelong rest (InshaAllah)

Would have liked it to not be this way
But every step leads to a greater lay, to a lasting stay ( InshaAllah)

So I end this ready for a brighter day; thankful mine wasn't harder than they

Titleless

They say it's just all "conspiracy theory"

... That no one can confirm it's a reality
But that seems to be words of the deaf ,dumb and blind
Content with being ignorant, unaware of the unbearable stench
The earth reeks of the filth administered by the New World Order
Marching in bands; a drone like solider
It's the end'a time I keep telling
But that's the crazy one that keeps on trippin'
"Relax, stressin' ain't gonna make it go away"
Those being the words that 'they' say
But hey, this isn't all news to us
We've been warned but our nature makes us weak and so we speak in brained washed masses
It's a lifestyle set up in classes
Broken down by the level of how hard you can clown
Propagating the need to be sinful
Making piety appear to be an evil within society
So I ask myself, "why with all the knowledge of light do we find so much darkness?"
And I realize it's all just a way for the TRUE believers to have success
So I stress
Relaxing for a minute will make me weaker
Need to try to keep on my toes, to keep striving for better
Aiming towards piety never goes unrewarded, even if society calls me distorted
So I choose to stay a 'stranger'
I'd rather walk alone than be amongst such danger
And I fume with anger, hatred towards this Order
For it's messed the minds of the young and old
Making the odds of a pious future, lesser, and lesser
So yes, I stress due to this mess
....... and I supplicate

O' God Protect us from these evil effects, and keep us amongst those you love and not those that you detest..Ameen

'Nun-Jabi'

I'm dressed, yes, maybe not dressed to impress, maybe not defined by society as the best, but let me stress that I carry myself for me and only me. I don't want 'em eyes, checking my size, and the other 'ish that runs through the minds of those consumed by their carnal desires. A fuel that's ignited and never to be satisfied for the soul craves a deeper craving. I can see it in your eyes, I can see those questions floating around in the room, words of nuns, ninjas and things making you feel as though your bling is a superior standing. As though before you is a vision of oppression, a victim of Osama's mess unable to see that in the land of the brave, home of stupidity I am undeniably free. Lemme take this second to define freedom, because until we're on the same level you'll never see me as human. Freedom is the right to preserve ones dignity to the highest calibre given to humanity. It's the ability to pick a path one is content with from the depths of their soul. It's choices we make for our own sake. Not the laws a nation imposes on us, trying to expose every last inch of flesh convincing us we're now liberated working nine to five, dinner at six, laundry, then hockey practice, oh wait, I think you missed it....... you just doubled your load now you're on night shift ! Honey, I won't judge you and you don't judge me. I don't hate you and you don't hate me. My mind is not limited to butterflies and fashion, no it's a mind challenged by upholding dignity and respect. If you never met one like me, the so called 'nun-jabi', then let it be known my life represents a path I chose. A love that I know. And though you don't get it, I ask you at least respect it. Rearrange those question marks, one back to front ʕʔ .......find the love to understand each other and we'll be on the path to healing homes and hearts beyond the capacity calculated by any man. For the heart is our vehicle of truth and justice....peace and contentment...the heart erases every colour, every race, every language, every place, the heart unites us to by a power beyond the scope of man. Let's make it pure, open our clenched fists and give out a hand. Let's make salaam, peace, a greeting spread only by Islam!

Diagnosis: Verbal Diarrhea

What is the word of a man worth in this time?...

It's merely a ringing bell, a chime, sounds that are benign, that can't get past the hymn. It's a pleasantry upon the palate, beyond that it's just a malice. Words that are baseless, just spill and are tasteless. The words of a man should not be a mere noise or sound. It's a transaction, a receipt of interaction. It's a mark left to console, for the word of a real man is not just a word. It's an intent, it's a step into action. If you don't have your word, then you are nothing more than a soothsayers attraction. Define character by making your talk walk, and not just your talk rock. Words that move come with proof of it's groove. A rare quality to find in these times, where all talk does is talk, and all walk does is get your ego in a buzz. Make the words that you utter be the truth in its entirety.Let it be more than just a disillusioned piety but rather an adjective designed to elevate your weight by the Power of the Most High.C'mon, make your soul fly!!

Our Starvation

We know it's there, we've heard of it's existence....
We've been told and constantly reminded
But we've been brained washed and branded
Turned from humans of intellect to animals
Making survival of the fittest nothing but greed
It's a selfish realm we breed
Eyes walk with death lurking near
Body begging for someone to nurture
Ribs bearing all that words can say
Neglect of priorities has made it this day
Hearts don't breathe any more
For hearts with life would turn deathly sore
Not just blue in the face and then back to me and you
No, our hearts are filled to its capacity
Though blessed with space and flexibility
It encompasses nothing but drama
Too busy trying to make 'right' our self inflicted wrong
When we've got a world of worries to keep us busy
Stripped of dignity, void of mercy
Forgive us for our neglect beautiful child
For we are diseased and unable to find time to go beyond a tear in our eye
Please don't spite us on the day of Reckoning
Please don't hate us, pray for our awakening
Ya Raabi stir our soul, Ya Raabi make us whole again
Protect us from the wrong we place on our own
Make easy for those we fail to embrace and hold....Ameen
